“Everything happens for a reason” portrait of my brother-in-law, Hardwin Osborne. A lovely man who passed away 3 years ago following a cancer of the pancreas. “Everything happens for a reason” were his last words to my sister, reflecting his peaceful and philosphical nature.
Although a challenge working from a photograph with a low resolution and mixed lighting. It was a pleasure to spend the time with his smiling face, conscious of all the years of life he shared with my sister, seeing echoes of all their 6 children in his features. The photograph was taken at their wedding just as he was about to sign the register.
I have been looking at the English artist Daphne Todd for inspiration and guidance in resolving the technical and artistic challenges of the piece.
« Tout arrive pour une raison », portrait de mon beau-frère, Hardwin Osborne, un homme charmant qui est décédé il y a trois ans des suites d’un cancer du pancréas. Les derniers mots qu’il a adressés à ma sœur, « Tout arrive pour une raison », reflètent sa nature paisible et philosophique.
Travailler à partir d’une photographie à faible résolution et à l’éclairage mixte a été difficile. Ce fut néanmoins un plaisir de passer du temps avec son visage souriant, consciente de toutes les années de vie qu’il a partagées avec ma sœur, voyant les échos de leurs six enfants dans ses traits. La photo a été prise lors de leur mariage, au moment où il s’apprêtait à signer le registre.
Je me suis inspirée de l’artiste anglaise Daphne Todd pour relever les défis techniques et artistiques de l’œuvre.
